Stop feeling tired, achy and listless all the time. When you feel tired, nothing is fun. Activities you enjoyed aren’t as enjoyable anymore. It’s hard to find the ambition to do even the simple tasks like cleaning your house or cooking good meals. Feeling tired all the time literally robs you of your life, and it’s time to learn how to get more energy during the day. I had this problem for quite a while, and I finally asked my doctor, “Why do I feel tired all the time?”
He explained to me that there are many factors that can lead to chronic fatigue. We all feel tired sometimes, and that’s perfectly normal. The problem arises when the feeling of being tired and listless becomes the norm. There is nothing normal about being tired all the time, and so I hope you will find comfort in knowing that there are steps you can take to get more energy, and I will outline some of them below.
I want to stress that some medical conditions can also cause chronic fatigue. I strongly recommend that if you consult with your healthcare provider if you cannot get your energy levels up by following the steps below.

What causes chronic fatigue?
Not getting enough sleep
It would be great if I could tell you to just get a good night’s sleep, and you’ll feel better, but sleep deprivation is not always the culprit. If you know for sure that you are not getting the proper amount of sleep, then I would say that, yes, getting those zzz’s and seeing how you feel when you do would be your first step.
That opens the question, exactly what is enough sleep? This is always up for debate because everyone’s sleep requirements is different. Myself, I function and feel my best when I get a solid 7-1/2 to 8 hours of sleep a night. That’s my perfect recipe to feel refreshed. My son, however, finds that 8-9 hours is where he needs to land to feel rested. It is really important that you get your proper amount of sleep, and not too much. Too little and too much sleep have both been linked to early death.
Not drinking enough water
If you have read any of my other articles on this website, you are well aware of my push to drink more water! Dehydration is a major contributor to chronic fatigue. When you are feeling very tired, try a nice big glass of water! If you use a water enhancer, you can benefit from added antioxidants and nutrients, many of which are critical for energy. Lack of Physical Exercise
Most of us find excuses not to exercise. How many times have we said we really want to exercise, but we’re “too busy,” or we’re “too tired.” We’re too tired (which is exactly what this article is about) which then causes us to be more tired because we’re not exercising. Get moving.
Start slowly. I’m not suggesting you run out and join a gym, although gyms are great. I’m suggesting you just gradually add some physical activity to your day. You’ve heard all the ideas before, I’m sure, like take the stairs instead of the elevator or park your car farther away from entrances and walk. What I’ve done is I’ve outlined some ideas below under the “Get Moving” heading that you could also incorporate into your daily routine. I know you’re busy, but can you honestly say you can’t spare 15 minutes twice a day to do something that will give you more energy to really have a great and productive rest of your day?

Poor Food Choices
Yes, here we are again. You really are what you eat, or is it you really feel what you eat? I guess it’s both. You cannot expect to eat burgers and fries with ketchup and mayo and feel great. When you eat these types of foods and sugary treats, you are actually robbing your body of energy. It drains your energy and makes you feel sluggish. Your body is looking for nutrition to thrive. Every cell is depending on you to provide it with certain nutrients that it desperately needs to function properly.
If you really want to stop feeling terrible, stop eating terrible food. I’m going to give you some recommended food choices to provide energy in the paragraph below labeled “Foods for Energy.” Do yourself a favor and find a way to incorporate some of them into your diet. Throughout this website, I will continue to give you ideas on how to start eating healthy foods, even ones you may not like.

This actually goes hand-in-hand with the paragraph above because we get our nutrients mostly from our food. Foods for Energy
