Let’s go over the list! Foods to eat and lose weight with! Don’t despair thinking all I’m going to say is cucumbers and celery. I promise that’s not the case. Read this article, and to implement change in your life, I’m going to give you a couple of other articles that will help you in this regard.

My personal journey

I created this website because I saw what a lifestyle change did for me. My looks, how I feel, how I think have all improved just by changing my lifestyle to, what I now call, my Fountain of Youth Lifestyle. I am passionate about helping people realize their potential as well. If I can do it, you can do it, too!

Losing weight can be a daunting task and extremely frustrating. I know the struggle. I was over 50 pounds overweight. That’s 10 bags of sugar I was carrying around my middle causing a muffin-top appearance when I wore my pants. I had to buy new clothes, flowey, drapey tops, and stuff my smaller clothes that I used to love into boxes in the attic. I tried so many things, too many to count, and finally I just chalked the weight up to my age and temporarily just gave up the battle.

I got really tired of the weight and how it made me feel. I felt lousy, and a lot of it was not just the weight, but it was what I was eating. I was eating all the wrong foods. Foods that not only assured I would keep on the weight and slowly gain more, but foods that just weren’t good for my body and made me feel sluggish and crappy all the time.

Things had to change

I am a firm believer that things happen for a reason. One day I was switching through the radio stations, and I came across my Christian channel that I had programmed into my car, but it wasn’t the usual pastor talking, but instead it was a doctor named Dr. Asa Andrew. I’ve linked his name to his site so you can check him out. He’s a pretty awesome individual, and he gives people advice on how to change their lifestyle for particular ailments.

I liked the show, so I noted the time he was on, and I started to listen to him. Then I started to study nutrition myself, because the subject simply fascinated me, and I was getting older, like we all do, and I wanted to make sure I did everything I could in the present to assure a healthy and fruitful time in the future!

I lost 50 pounds by changing my eating habits, slowly at first, gaining momentum over time, until nutrition became my passion!  I’ve never felt better in my life!  I supplemented my diet with nutritional supplements, and with all these lifestyle changes, the pounds melted away.

Food is one of two things

Every single item you put in your mouth is one of two things:

It’s amazing that once you really wrap your head around this concept and start to actively remember every time you open your mouth, your eating habits will change drastically. When you look at that fatty burger with cheese on a roll and realize that, besides perhaps the lettuce, tomato and onion on top, it is poison with poison on top on a poison roll, you will just start to make healthier choices.


Let’s start with the HOW

I’m going to give you the list of foods to eat and lose weight with, and that’s fine, but the first step is actually eating them. This will probably require a change for you. Change can be difficult, right? So I’ve written a couple of great articles on how to make those changes, and I would suggest you read them to lay the foundation for your new fountain of youth lifestyle. Foods to eat and lose weight with!

These are foods that are medicine for the body. I will list each food and give you the reasons why you should consume it;

1. Avocados

Stop your blood sugar from spiking and causing that fat around the mid-section of your body. They cause your body metabolism to speed up, and they make you feel fuller, which will result in eating less.

Benefits of Avocado:

  • Contain Vitamins C, K, and Riboflaven
  • Lots of fiber
  • More potassium than bananas
  • Contain omega 3 fatty acids for heart health
  • Contain beta-carotene
  • Lowers cholesterol

2. Bananas

High fiber makes this a filling snack, and the fact that it’s low in calories is awesome in a weight loss regime. The potassium in bananas helps reduce water retention, and they give you energy to help in more movement and exercise.

Benefits of Bananas:

  • Lots of fiber
  • High in potassium
  • Contain Vitamin C, Manganese and Vitamin B6
  • Contain protein

3. Green Tea

To give you an idea of some of the weight-loss benefits here, green tea boosts your metabolism, speeding things up to help in weight loss. It burns fat! You can also count it as one of your glasses of water for the day. You’ll see when you read the article just how amazing this one beverage can be!

Benefits of Green Tea:

  • Protects the brain and improves function
  • Great for the heart
  • Contains catechins, which are antioxidants that help prevent cell damage

4. Eggs

Eggs are packed with protein. Don’t be fooled by the old thinking that you have to avoid the yokes! They are the main source of the healthy ingredients and are so loaded with nutrition, you should eat one every day! Consuming eggs does not affect your cholesterol levels. They contain all nine essential amino acids, too! Skip the cereal, bagel and other horrible foods and replace them with two eggs in the morning. Research shows people who do this lose weight 65% faster! Eggs make you feel full throughout the day!

Benefits of Eggs:

  • Loaded with protein
  • Contain Vitamin B6, B12 and Vitamin D
  • Contain Copper, Zinc and Iron
  • Contain Phosphorus and Selenium

5. Lentils

Lentils are high in complex carbohydrates, which helps to boost your metabolism. They help your body to burn fat! They are an excellent source of fiber and can help to lower your cholesterol levels.

Benefits of Lentils:

  • Lots of fiber, folate, copper, phosphorus and manganese
  • Contain Vitamin B1 and B6
  • Contain potassium, zinc and pantothenic acid
  • Great source of iron

6. Berries and Apples

Berries come in all shapes and tastes. Blueberries, strawberries, raspberries and blackberries! Yum.

Not only are all types of berries delicious, but just like apples, they are rich in flavanoids which can prevent weight gain!

Benefits of Berries and Apples:

  • Lots of fiber
  • Rich in Vitamin C
  • High in antioxidants
  • Contain flavanoids which help with cognitive abilities

7. Chia Seeds

These small gems are absolutely amazing, and they are so easy to incorporate into your smoothies, soups, sauces, etc. If you want to lose weight, you will definitely want to find ways to use them. They provide sustainable strength throughout the day. Chia seeds were eaten by ancient civilizations for strength, and today are considered a superfood.

Benefits of Chia Seeds:

  • Lots of fiber and protein
  • Contain calcium, manganese and phosphorus
  • Contain Vitamin B1, B2 and B3
  • Contain zinc

8. Grapefruit

Grapefruit gives you a full feeling, which can help you lose weight because you eat less. People like to eat them in the morning to prevent those mid-morning cravings. They contain enzymes which help you lose weight.

Benefits of Grapefruit:

  • Great source of fiber
  • Excellent source of antioxidant plant compounds
  • Contains Vitamin A and Vitamin C
  • Contains potassium, folate, magnesium and Thiamine

Food to avoid

This is something most people know already, the foods to avoid, but let’s go over them.  These are the foods that are poison to the body:

  • Foods high in animal fat
  • Fried foods
  • Dairy products of all kinds (these are hard to digest and cause inflammation throughout your body)
  • Foods containing wheat, such as bread, baked goods, and pasta
  • White rice (try quinoa instead)
  • Sugar

You don’t need animal fat to get protein, as plenty of vegetables and lentils have protein.  You don’t need dairy products to get calcium.  There are plenty of vegetables that have calcium.  You don’t need to put bad foods into your body to get the proper nutrition.

Getting the proper nutrition is important, and you want to supplement your diet with a multi-vitamin at the very least.  You can also use a superfood powder to do this.

All things in moderation is my motto. Start slow. Make those necessary changes, and if you want a piece of bread, have a piece of bread, occasionally.

Eat the foods that are going to help you (medicine) as much as possible, and the foods that hurt you (poison) as little as possible. You will see results if you do this.

Add some exercise to your routine, too, even if it’s just walking for 15 minutes a day. Start slow and progress to where you want (and truly need) to be.  Get moving if you want to lose the weight.
